Palhaça is a small town and a municipality in Portugal .
history
The first localities of today's municipality emerged after the medieval Reconquista , in particular the places Vila Nova and Pedreira mentioned in 1242. Today's Palhaça was first listed in the registers of 1527 as Vila Nova das Palhoças .
In 1804 Palhaça was already an independent municipality and since then has belonged to the Oliveira do Bairro district (from April 1872 to December 1872 to the Aveiro district).
In 2003 the place was raised to a small town ( Vila ).
