The Palmer Point is a rocky headland on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . It is located 3 km west of Strover Peak and 13 km west-northwest of Mount Caroline Mikkelsen .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Australian geologist Ian Roderick McLeod (* 1931) visited them in 1969 as part of a campaign by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) to the Prince Charles Mountains . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the helicopter pilot John R. Palmer, who had participated in an ANARE campaign in 1968.
