Panagiotis Iliopoulos ( Greek Παναγιώτης Ηλιόπουλος , * 1967 in Athens ) is a member of the neo-Nazi Greek party Chrysí Avgí . He has been a member of the Greek parliament since the parliamentary elections in Greece in May 2012 .

Life

In September 2012, there were violent attacks on market sellers with alleged immigrant backgrounds in Rafina by members of the Chrysí Avgí, before MPs Giorgos Germenis and Panagiotis Iliopoulos checked sales licenses.

Also in September 2012 a picture of Iliopoulos appeared on the inside of his left upper arm next to the tattooed logo of Chrysí Avgí and a tattoo in old German script with the words "Sieg Heil".

In an interview with the Daily Mail , when asked what he was going to do against illegal immigrants, Panagiotis replied, "We will fly every one of you home." When asked what he was doing against the racist Chrysí Avgí gangs who beat anyone who is not Greek, he replied: “We have millions of supporters, some wilder elements. We cannot control them all. "

In January 2014, Iliopoulos was taken into custody. He is suspected of playing a key role in a criminal organization held responsible for attacks on migrants.

Party career

Iliopoulos ran for Magnesia in Thessaly in 2012 and was elected to the Greek parliament.

In September 2012, Iliopoulos was arrested in Volos after drawing a gun during rioting with counter-demonstrators.

In October 2012, Iliopoulos asked the University of the Aegean how many students were foreigners in the university's dormitories and how many were Greek. Vice Rector Nikos Soulakellis said he was offended by this request.

The Greek Parliament voted in October 2012 to lift Iliopoulos' immunity.

Iliopoulos was expelled from parliament in May 2013 for insulting MPs from other parties. A SYRIZA - Enotiko Kinoniko Metopo MP said that Iliopoulos shouted "Sieg Heil" three times before leaving the room after the security service was called.
