Ascent history
There were two ascent attempts in the 1950s. In 1955 a British expedition reached the lower western summit ( 6503 m ), the rise of which led from Tibet over the southwest ridge. In 1959 a Japanese expedition failed on the mountain. On November 11, 2011, David Gottlieb and Chad Kellogg finally managed the first ascent of Pangbuk Ri over the south face (VI, AI5, M5, 1400 m).
