The Lunag Ri is a mountain in the Himalayas in the Rolwaling Himal mountain group .

The 6907  m high Lunag Ri is located in the main Himalayan ridge on the border between Nepal and Tibet . The Lunag Ri is located 11.7 km west-southwest of Cho Oyu ( 8188  m ). The Jobo Rinjang ( 6778  m ) forms a south-eastern secondary peak of the Lunag Ri. The Lunag Glacier runs on the southern flank of the Lunag Ri . The Nangpa glacier flows to the east . The Shalong Glacier's nutrient zone lies on the northern slope .

Ascents

The Lunag Ri was climbed for the first time on October 25, 2018 by the Austrian alpinist and climber David Lama single-handedly. Lama and the American Conrad Anker failed in November 2015 and again in autumn 2016 after Anker suffered a heart attack on the ascent. Lama broke off a first solo attempt shortly afterwards at 6,700 meters, the highest altitude reached on this mountain until then.
