IGA in Stuttgart

The IGA 93 panorama train on a descent from Killesberg , Stuttgart

For the international horticultural exhibition in 1993 in Stuttgart , the track with a 4.6 kilometer long circuit was built for the first time. It connected the Killesberg high park with the lower parts of the garden show grounds. The route overcame larger gradients and left the exhibition grounds in parts. Five stops have been set up: Rosensteinpark , Wartberg , Messe , Höhenpark Killesberg and Leibfriedscher Garten . The depot of the Panoramabahn was located on a small open space in Ehmannstrasse (near Stuttgart Nord train station / Natural History Museum ). The panorama train was a main attraction of the IGA. In 1994 the manufacturer bought it back and dismantled it as previously contractually agreed.

Gelsenkirchen

For the 1997 Federal Garden Show in Gelsenkirchen's Nordsternpark , the Panoramabahn was set up a second time and then dismantled again.

Magdeburg

Drive through the Elbauenpark a few weeks before the railway closes

Since the Federal Horticultural Show in 1999 , the railway has traveled an approximately 3 km long circuit in Magdeburg's Elbauenpark . The technical condition there after 15 years required a general overhaul, which was estimated at around two million euros . The city council of Magdeburg therefore decided on June 12, 2014 to cease operations as of October 31, 2014. At the same time, it was looking for someone who would be willing to take over the plant and bear the dismantling costs estimated at EUR 500,000. On November 20, 2014, the four remaining trains that were sold to Intamin were removed. The line was dismantled and scrapped in early 2015.
