history

Ride on the Panoramabahn a few weeks before the shutdown

The Elbauenpark was created on the occasion of the Federal Horticultural Show in Magdeburg in 1999 on the Cracauer Anger . Wehrmacht barracks and gun walls were built on the present site in the 1930s . After the Second World War , the barracks were used by the western group of the Soviet armed forces . A huge garbage dump was created here from the debris from the war destruction.

In a few years it was possible to remove all ordnance, projectiles and countless war debris and to create a park that attracts numerous visitors.
