Pantha du Prince (born Hendrik Weber * 1975 in Bad Wildungen ) is a German techno - musician , composer and conceptual artist . He also published under pseudonyms such as Panthel or Glow 4 .

history

Weber's debut as Pantha du Prince, Nowhere , was released in 2002 as a 12 "publication. A few years later, the first studio album Diamond Daze affinity Weber mentioned (2004). The album was well received by the critics. Some critics for British shoegaze of in the late 80s with bands like Slowdive , Moose, Ride and My Bloody Valentine . His preference for Detroit techno in the style of Carl Craig or minimal techno like Chain Reaction was also evident. For a while he was also the bassist for the Hamburg band Stella .

After a remix 12 "release ( Butterfly Girl Versions , 2005) as well as new material ( Lichten / Walden , 2006) Weber released his second studio album as Pantha du Prince: This Bliss , 2007. This was also received positively by the critics. 2010 He moved from Dial to Rough Trade Records before releasing his third album, Black Noise was influenced by recordings Weber made in forests and landscapes in Switzerland.

At the 2011 Echo Awards , he was awarded the Critics' Prize for Black Noise . Since 2014 he has been a scholarship holder of the Musicboard Berlin in the artist residence Villa Aurora in Los Angeles.
