The Panther Packaging Group is a packaging company in Germany. The company's headquarters have been in Tornesch north of Hamburg since 1960 . The company supplies u. a. Customers of the food industry and the trade .

history

In Altona, Altonaer Wellpappenfabrik GmbH began producing a material for which a patent had been applied for in 1871 as an invention by Albert Jones in the USA. With corrugated cardboard , a packaging material was created which, thanks to a sophisticated recycling system, was considered environmentally friendly and sustainable. The logo and slogan of the "Panther head" were registered as early as 1930, and the company was already supplying customers throughout Germany. After almost complete destruction in the Second World War , reconstruction was pushed ahead in 1945 under the direction of Fritz Landmann. In 1974, the then Mead and Billerud companies each took over 50% of the company shares. In the 1980s, Horst Hilmer took over the shares in the group and made the "Panther Wellpappen- und Papierfabriken" (now Panther Packaging ) the parent company of all decentralized plants.

Companies

In 2019, the group with around 1275 employees achieved a turnover of over 370 million euros with the production of corrugated cardboard and packaging and displays . In 2019, the company employed over 130 trainees in 15 different occupations.

According to its own information, the group offers the production of all relevant types of flutes , packaging, system, process and printing advice and development, transport packaging and displays . In addition, various printing processes for solid and corrugated cardboard (e.g. flexo preprint, offset printing, flexo postprint), varnishing and other services are offered.

Awards

The Panther group received various awards. and the Havelland district's economic development award .

Foundation initiative

In 1973 Fritz Landmann, the founder's son and his wife, died. The couple's fortunes flow into the Fritz Landmann Foundation, which was founded recently and is dedicated to the training and further education of young people in the paper and packaging sector. For these purposes, the foundation had donated around 11 million euros by 2020.
