Publius Gabinius Capito
Publius Gabinius Capito († December 5, 63 BC in Rome ) was a Roman politician and a member of the equestrian order. He became known as a participant in the Catilinarian Conspiracy in 63 BC. Chr.
He negotiated with the allobrogians , whom he was supposed to win over as an envoy of Catiline for their assistance in the conspiracy. The consul Marcus Tullius Cicero was able to break the conspiracy on December 3, 63 BC. Uncover and prove that he got the Allobrogians to negotiate written agreements with Catiline. Cicero had the documents issued thereupon intercepted by two praetors . Shortly thereafter, Capito was whose task would also have existed as part of the conspiracy is to set Rome on fire and murdering citizens, along with the co-conspirators Lucius Statilius , Gaius Cornelius Cethegus , Publius Cornelius Lentulus Sura and Marcus Caeparius on the Milvian Bridge captured and executed on December 5th.
