Paola Ogechi Egonu (born December 18, 1998 in Cittadella ) is an Italian volleyball player .

Career

Egonu played from 2014 to 2016 in the Italian national junior team, with which she won the U18 World Cup in Peru in 2015 . The diagonal player has been part of the senior national team since 2015 , with which she finished ninth at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2017 she was runner-up at the World Grand Prix and vice-champion in Japan in 2018 . At the 2019 European Championships in Turkey , she finished third.

At club level, Egonu played for Club Italia in Rome from 2013 to 2017 . With AGIL Volley Novara she won the Italian Cup in 2018 and 2019 and the European Champions League in 2019 . With Imoco Volley Conegliano she became club world champion in 2019 and won the national cup again in 2020.

Egonu has won several awards as “Most Valuable Player” (MVP), “Best Outside Attacker” and “Best Diagonal Attacker”.

Private

Egonu is the daughter of two Nigerian emigrants.
