Paolo Fancelli

Paolo Fancelli (born May 7, 1964 in Bellinzona ) is a Swiss industrial designer .

Life

He comes from Biasca in the Canton of Ticino and has been running a design studio in Zurich since 2000 . Fancelli is also a visiting lecturer in industrial design at the Athenaeum in Lausanne .

Works

Fancelli is best known for designing industrial and technical products. The range of products he designed includes hand tools, household appliances, power tools, measuring instruments, commercial vehicles, machine systems, office and home furniture.

One of his first projects in the consumer goods sector was the modern version of the Swiss Army Knife Evolution for Wenger SA in Delémont . Watch designs for Ventura Design on Time SA followed later . The V-tec Sigma watch he designed can be seen as a product placement in Nicolas Cage's film Bangkok Dangerous . While working for Ludwig Walser, he designed the Giroflex 64 swivel chair, Europe's best-selling .

In 2009 he won the Swiss Design Prize with the Viatrac VT450 transport vehicle , which he designed for Aebi & Co. AG Maschinenfabrik in Burgdorf. Fancelli is thus following in the footsteps of the Swiss design pioneer Willy Guhl , who designed the first tractors for Aebi in the 1950s.
