Paolo Molinari

Paolo Molinari SJ (born January 17, 1924 in Turin , † May 2, 2014 in Rome ) was an Italian Jesuit and theologian .

Life

The from the Turin industrial family Molinari originating Paolo Molinari came in 1942 during the Second World War, the religious order of the Jesuits in. He studied at Heythrop College in London and was ordained a priest in 1952. At first he taught spiritual theology and was a full professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University . During the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 he was engaged as a council theologian and one of the main authors of " Lumen Gentium ", the Dogmatic Constitution of the Second Vatican Council on the Church and other council documents.

In 1957, Paolo Molinari was appointed postulator and later general postulator of the Jesuit Order and was responsible for all processes of canonization and beatification of deceased Jesuits. Up to his retirement in 2008 he had processed over 150 cases for the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints , including Father Rupert Mayer SJ, the Fátima children , Juan Diego of Guadalupe , the first holy Indian woman Kateri Tekakwitha . He was significantly involved in the processes for the beatification of Popes Pius XII. and Paul VI.
