Caluquembe is a small town and county in Angola .

history

In 1965, under Portuguese colonial administration , Caluquembe became the seat of its own district and at the same time became a small town ( Vila ). After the country gained independence in 1975, it remained an independent district.

Administration and residents

Caluquembe is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Huíla . The district covers an area of ​​3,074 km² with around 150,000 inhabitants (2014 estimate). In 2011 the estimate of the population was still 246,000. From now on, the 2014 census will provide reliable population data.
