Caluquembe is a small town and county in Angola .
history
In 1965, under Portuguese colonial administration , Caluquembe became the seat of its own district and at the same time became a small town ( Vila ). After the country gained independence in 1975, it remained an independent district.
Administration and residents
Caluquembe is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Huíla . The district covers an area of 3,074 km² with around 150,000 inhabitants (2014 estimate). In 2011 the estimate of the population was still 246,000. From now on, the 2014 census will provide reliable population data.
The district of Caluquembe is made up of three municipalities (Comunas):
