Paolo Scaroni

Paolo Scaroni (born November 28, 1946 in Vicenza ) is an Italian manager . Scaroni is the former CEO of the Italian energy companies Eni and Enel . Since 2018 he has been President and CEO of the Italian football club AC Milan .

Life

Scaroni studied economics at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan until 1969 and at Columbia University in New York until 1973 , where his son Alvise Scaroni later also studied.

After graduating, he worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company . He worked for Compagnie de Saint-Gobain until 1985 , where he was appointed President of the Glass Division in 1978. From 1985 to 1996 Scaroni was CEO of the Argentine company Techint . From 1996 to 2002 Scaroni was CEO of the British company Pilkington . He then worked from 2002 to 2005 as CEO for the Italian energy company Enel .

From June 2005 to April 2014, he was CEO of the Italian oil and energy group Eni .

Paolo Scaroni is director of the Italian insurance group Assicurazioni Generali and Veolia Environnement and Vice-Chairman of the London Stock Exchange Group.

Since July 1, 2014, he has been Deputy Chairman on the Board of Directors of Rothschild Bank .

In 2014 he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment because, during his time as a manager at Enel, high sulfur oil was burned in a power plant in Porto Tolle. This led to a significant increase in bronchial disease in the area. An expert opinion by the state environmental authority put environmental and health damage in the region at 3.6 billion euros. He has announced that he will appeal the judgment.

Since July 21, 2018, he has been President and CEO of the Italian football club AC Milan .
