Papitz (Schkeuditz)
Papitz is a district of the large district town of Schkeuditz in the north-west of Leipzig district in north-west Saxony .

Papitz lies east of the center of Schkeuditz, in the west it borders on the district Altscherbitz and in the east on Modelwitz . Furthermore, Papitz lies north of the White Elster and the Leipzig floodplain forest . In the south of Papitz are the Papitz clay puddles . They are part of the Luppeaue nature reserve .
history
The village was first mentioned under the name Popewitz, which became Papitz at the end of the 15th century. In the meantime called Popitz, it was called Papitz again since 1791. The place was until 1815 in the Hochstift-Merseburg office of Schkeuditz , which was under the sovereignty of the Electorate of Saxony.
Through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Papitz and the western part of the Schkeuditz office were ceded to Prussia in 1815 and thus administratively belonged to the Merseburg district in the administrative district of the same name in the Prussian province of Saxony.
In 1929 Papitz was incorporated into Schkeuditz, with which it came to the Leipzig-Land district in the Leipzig district in 1952 , to the Leipziger Land district in 1994 , to the Delitzsch district in 1999 and to the northern Saxony district in 2008.
Infrastructure
Papitz is to the right and left of Äußere Leipziger Straße, the former B 6 . The LVB tram line 11 serves the district. The Elster cycle path and the Green Ring Leipzig (outer ring) run through Papitz .
The central cemetery of Schkeuditz and the Kreuzkirche of the Evangelical Kreuzgemeinde Schkeuditz-Ost are located in Papitz.
