Pappacoda polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pappacoda Polka is a French Polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 412). The work was first performed in Vienna at the end of 1883.

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta One Night in Venice . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 411 , 413 , 414 , 415 and 416 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The title goes back to the operetta character of the macaroni cook Pappacoda . In this work, among other things, Strauss has processed the cook's couplet Take, take, tak, first hack 'ich finely . The place and date of the premiere are not known. But it must have been after October 3, 1883, when the operetta was premiered, and before the end of the year. The print version appeared on December 5th.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 44 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
