Pappi Corsicato (actually Pasquale Corsicato , born June 12, 1960 in Naples ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

After studying architecture in his hometown, Corsicato went to New York City , where he took acting courses with Geraldine Barone , courses in dance and choreography with Alvin Aley and composed music for theater performances. In 1987 he was back in Italy and initially worked in the musical field; he wrote scores for Luca De Filippo , Enzo Moscato and others.

Then he turned to the staging of movies; After volunteer work and small acting appearances, he made a short film in 1993, which was used in cinemas with two others and received numerous prizes, including a Nastro d'Argento . His next film, I buchi neri , was also received positively by critics and led to Corsicato's designation as Almodóvar of Italy.

In the years that followed, more films were made, and Corsicato was particularly concerned with documentaries on contemporary art of all kinds. In 2008, he presented his film Il seme della discordia , based on ( Heinrich von Kleist's The Marquise of O ... ) at the Venice Film Festival ; In 2009 his documentary Armando Testa - Povero ma moderno received the Pasinetti Award there .

In 2001 he directed the opera Carmen in Naples.
