Bell pepper salad is a vegetable salad and a cold kitchen dish . The fruits of the sweet peppers ( pods ), which are processed with other ingredients, are used for production. Typical spices are salt , white or black pepper , vinegar and vegetable oil , but other ingredients can be added.

A simple paprika salad is usually prepared from finely chopped, mixed peppers of various colors, mixed with finely chopped onions , salt, pepper, wine vinegar and vegetable oil and seasoned with it. Other ingredients can be added to this salad, such as mushrooms or tuna , which can turn the salad into a mixed salad. In the “Imperial Paprika Salad”, for example, the cut peppers and onions are served with tomatoes , boiled ham, pickled black olives and pickled capers, as well as slices of hard-boiled eggs and marinated with a salad dressing made from mustard, oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce. In the “paprika, celery and apple salad”, the raw paprika is combined with celery and apples and also dressed with a vinegar and oil sauce and some cream .

There are also several ways to prepare the salad dressing, for example a salad with a honey mustard dressing.

In addition to fresh peppers, salads can also be prepared from pickled peppers, and there is also the option of preparing cooked or fried peppers with other ingredients and spices in vegetable oil as a pickled pepper salad and preserving them over a longer period of time.

Unmarinated peppers are also often present in the display of a salad buffet alongside other ingredients, which guests can use to make a mixed salad and season with any salad sauce. Bell peppers are also a classic ingredient in mixed salads such as the Greek salad , but they are not referred to as bell pepper salads.
