Greek salad

Greek salad , and Farmer's salad or Choriatiki ( Greek χωριάτικη σαλάτα ), is an appetizer of Greek cuisine . In its simplest form, it consists of cucumbers , tomatoes , green peppers , olives , feta cheese and onions and is dressed with salt , pepper and olive oil . Herbs such as oregano , dill or marjoram are often used, and sometimes they are marinated with vinegar or lemon juice.

Depending on the region, the ingredients vary with boiled eggs , green lettuce , white cabbage , capers and even pieces of meat .

On some islands are on the plate bottom Choriatiki Paximadia set (Greek rusk like bread) that are dismembered after soaking and mixed.
