The animals of the genus Paracyprichromis belong to the family of the cichlids (Cichlidae). All species of this genus are endemic to Lake Tanganyika . There they can be found in groups or individually in open water on rock faces. The cichlids of this genus are mouthbrooders .
features
The name of the genus indicates the close relationship to the genus Cyprichromis . The species of the genus are elongated and only slightly raised. The species described are very similar and difficult to tell apart. The animals become about 11 cm long, with the females remaining slightly smaller.
