Paradise where are you

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paradise where are you was the German contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 . The German song was written by Hans Blum and Barbara Kist and sung by Ulla Wiesner .

The ballad is about a love affair that begins with “a look, a word, a letter, a 'you', a kiss and a heart”. Then the singer asks “whether she would have found paradise”. But then came “the day, the light and then the slap in the face”. Finally the singer is alone again and cries like a "little girl abandoned in a city".

Although the song won the German preliminary round Ein Lied für Neapel with two thirds of the jury votes, it came in last place in Naples with zero points, together with contributions from Belgium, Finland and Spain.
