The Paradise Lake is a small freshwater lake in the north of King County in the State of Washington , about two miles (3.2 km) east of Woodinville . The lake has no public access for watering boats. It drains into Bear Creek , which flows into the Sammamish River at Redmond . The catchment area of the lake is given as 979 ha.

The fish species found in the lake include cutthroat trout , rainbow trout , and sockeye salmon , as well as stone perch , common sunfish , glass-eyed perch , largemouth bass , black bass , pike and American river perch . A fishing permit is required.

The lake was formerly used to breed alien bullfrogs ( Rana catesbeiana ) for restaurants; a large population of bullfrogs still lives in the lake. A very rare species of snail ( Valvata mergella ) also lives in the lake , which was collected by WJ Eyerdam in 1941, by BR Bales in 1958 and by TJ Frest and EJ Johannes in 1995.

The water quality in the lake was classified as eutrophic by the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks in 2003 . The water was observed by volunteers from 1996 to 2008. After that, the water temperature fluctuated between 4 ° C and 22 ° C and the temperature stratification in summer was stable. Two significant peaks in the algae population were discovered in late May and late September, mainly caused by dinobryon and other golden algae . Other species observed belonged to the Cryptophyceae and the diatoms (especially Asterionella formosa ). The phosphate content of the water in the deeper areas was significantly higher than in the less deep areas due to the redissolution from the sediment.
