Woodinville is a small town in King County in the US state of Washington . It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area .

From July 25 to 28, 1969, the Seattle Pop Festival took place here with performances by Chuck Berry , The Doors , Led Zeppelin , Santana , Ten Years After , Ike & Tina Turner and Alice Cooper .

history

Before the Woodinville area was settled by European emigrants, the land belonged to the native Samish , a coastal Salish group of indigenous peoples who inhabited parts of the Pacific coast of North America in the Washington area.

Susan Woodin and her husband Ira moved from Seattle to the Sammamish River, built a hut, raised livestock and made a living from logging; a settlement gradually developed around them. Her hut served as the first school and post office, and Susan Woodin was appointed postmaster; Ira Woodin and his son-in-law Thomas Sanders later built the first general store.

As in other nearby towns, Woodinville began as a logging community and grew into an agricultural hub in the early 20th century . After World War II , Woodinville developed into a suburb of Seattle. In 1969 rock bands like Led Zeppelin and The Guess Who performed at the Seattle Pop Festival in Woodinville's Gold Creek Park.

The growth of neighboring Bothell led to considerations of joining Woodinville Bothell in the early 1990s. Woodinville residents voted in 1992 for its establishment, which officially took place on March 31, 1993.
