Paranoid Android (AOSPA for short) is an open source Android custom ROM that differs from other custom ROMs through a number of specially developed functions.

history

The Paranoid Android project started in 2012, making it one of the oldest custom ROM projects ever. For a long time Paranoid Android competed successfully with CyanogenMod until, in 2015, many developers of the project were taken over by OnePlus for the development of OxygenOS . Due to the lack of developers, development progressed very slowly and the project was discontinued in October 2016. The project manager Matt Flaming continued to run the Paranoid Android website and distribution network. On June 1, 2017, the developers announced the revival with 5 supported devices of the project. On October 30th, AOSPA 7.3.1, the last version based on Android Nougat, was released. On August 24, 2018, AOSPA based on Android Oreo was released for Sony Xperia smartphones. The Oreo update for Oneplus devices was delivered 5 days later. In April 2020, the Paranoid Android team released a version based on Android 10 called "Quartz".

particularities

Paranoid Android offers customization options such as color engine , immersive mode (full screen mode), optional PIE control and support for icon packs. The battery life is also optimized. The better photo quality of the Oneplus 3 / 3T is also interesting.
