Parc Chauveau
The Parc Chauveau is a park in the Canadian city of Québec . It is located in the northwest of the Arrondissement Les Rivières and is traversed by the strongly meandering Rivière Saint-Charles . It is crossed by the Parc linéaire des rivières Saint-Charles et du Berger , which follows the banks of this river.
With an area of 120 hectares , Parc Chauveau is the largest park in the city. Around 60% of it is forested. From December to March, cross-country skiing - trails groomed with a total length of ten kilometers, are in the other months biking and hiking trails and various sports facilities available. On the southern edge of the park there has been a year-round football hall since 2009; the wooden structure cost 18 million CAD .
The park is named after Pierre-Joseph-Olivier Chauveau , the first Prime Minister of the Province of Québec . A bust was unveiled in his honor in 2005 .
