Architecture and history
The two-storey parforce house was built as a hunting lodge by Prince Viktor II. Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg in 1728 and was used for hunts in the adjacent alluvial forest. The hunts took place until 1752. A pheasantry was built in the middle of the 18th century . In 1872 the Anhalt State Parliament approved the sale of the house to the innkeeper Theodor Schröter , who only ran it for a short time. As early as 1879, a W. Ohlhoff was named as the owner . The Parforcehaus became a popular excursion destination for nearby Bernburg.
In 1993 the property was converted into a 4-star hotel and a modern bed block was also built. The hotel operated as a park hotel had seven suites, 104 rooms and conference rooms. On December 1, 2015, the hotel was converted into a refugee accommodation with a capacity of 400 people.
The inn is registered as a monument in the monument register for the city of Bernburg under registration number 094 97925 .
The Parforcehaus is an important testimony to the Baroque architecture of Bernburg and the princely hunting world.
