Parham Maghsoodloo ( Persian پرهام مقصودلو; * August 11, 2000 in Gonbad-e Kavus ) is an Iranian chess player .

Maghsoodloo, who learned the rules of chess at the age of nine , is one of the greatest talents in Iranian chess , alongside Alireza Firouzja and Amin Tabatabaei . In 2015 he took part in the World Cup in Baku , where he was eliminated in the first round against Wesley So. Maghsoodloo had previously qualified via the 2015 Asian Continental Cup in Al-Ain , where he shared sixth place.

In 2016 he took part in the Chess Olympiad in Baku for the Iranian national team. In 2016 he was awarded the title of Grand Master . He met the standards for this in Al-Ain 2015, Rascht 2016, Bandar-e Anzali 2016 and at the Chess Olympiad in Baku.

Maghsoodloo came second after Firouzja in the Iranian championship in 2016 and then won the national championship title in 2017 and 2018 (ahead of Firouzja and Tabatabaei).

In 2018 Maghsoodloo achieved a significant leap in performance: He won the Open in Mumbai , Amol , Khomein and Sharjah as well as the Margarjan Memorial in Yerevan . In September he became Junior World Champion U20 in Gebze . In the same year he won with the Iranian national team at the Asian team championship in Hamedan , where he also won the gold medal for the best result on the first board (+3 = 4 −0). He also led the Iranian national team on the first board at the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi (+5 = 3 −2) and at the 2019 World Team Championship in Astana (+2 = 4 −3). In July 2019 Maghsoodloo won the traditional León Masters. He won the final of the rapid chess competition with 3-1 against Vasyl Ivanchuk . He played for Hebei in the Chinese team championship in 2018 .

Maghsoodloo, like the entire Iranian national team, is coached by the Bosnian-Dutch grandmaster Ivan Sokolov .
