Park Seong-cheol (born March 16, 1975 in Busan ) is a former South Korean football player who last played for Gyeongnam FC . He was later interim coach at Incheon United and is now again assistant coach of the 1st team.
Career as a player
Adolescence
He began his education at Dongnae High School , which he attended from 1990 to 1992. From 1993 to 1996 he was trained at Dong-A University and graduated from there. He then switched to Bucheon SK .
Football career in South Korea
He started his career in 1997 at Bucheon SK. During his time there, he ran a total of 80 times and scored 14 goals. He couldn't celebrate any successes there. Between 2000 and 2001 he was active as a loan player in the semi-professional league due to conscription at Sangmu FC . In 2005 he moved to Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma FC . After a year without use, he left the club and went to Gyeongnam FC . By the end of his career in 2007, he had played 17 games for the club and scored 1 goal. At the end of the 2007 season he ended his active playing career.
Career as a coach
Two years after the end of his career as an active player, he was hired by Jeju United as an assistant coach of the U-18s . In the three years the coaching team around Park Seong-cheol could not achieve the desired success, so that at the end of 2012 the club changed the coaching team and he had to leave. It wasn't until 2014 that he was reinstated as an assistant coach at Gyeonggi Media Broadcasting Science High School . At the beginning of 2015 Incheon United made him an offer, whereupon he switched shortly afterwards and became an assistant coach there. During his time in Incheon, he was part of the coaching staff around Kim Do-hoon and Lee Ki-hyung . On May 11, 2018, after Lee Ki-hyung was fired, he was transferred to the coaching post and became an interim coach. But after the success failed to materialize and hardly any points were scored, he was replaced by Jørn Andersen and took over the post of assistant coach again.
