Parodia permutata is a species of plant in the genus Parodia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet permutata is derived from the Latin words per- for 'very' and mutaus for 'changed'.

Parodia permutata usually grows individually. The green, spherical shoots reach a diameter of up to 5 centimeters. The apex of the shoot is sunk. The approximately 19 straight ribs are divided into round cusps. The circular white areoles on them are located in furrow-like depressions. The needle-like thorns are light brown to yellowish in color. The single straight to twisted central spine has a length of 0.5 to 35 centimeters. The ten to twelve straight radial spines are 0.4 to 1.8 inches long.
The sulfur-yellow, non-scented flowers reach lengths of 4.5 to 5.5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are densely covered with white wool and brown bristles. The scars are dark red-brown. The fruits are up to 2 centimeters long and 1.2 centimeters in diameter. The fruits contain bag-shaped black seeds up to 1 millimeter in length.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Parodia permutata is common in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul near São Gabriel .
The first description as Notocactus permutatus by Friedrich Ritter was published in 1979. Andreas Hofacker placed the species in the genus Parodia in 1998 . Another nomenclature synonym is Ritterocactus permutatus (F.Ritter) Doweld (1999).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. listed as endangered.
