Parodia rechensis is a species of the genus Parodia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet rechensis refers to the occurrence of the species in the village of Ana Rech in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul .

Parodia rechensis usually branches from the base and thus forms groups. The spherical to short cylindrical green shoots reach heights of growth of up to 7 centimeters and diameters of 3.5 to 5 centimeters. The apex of the shoot is covered with thorns. The approximately 18  ribs are usually vertical or slightly crooked. The areoles on them are covered with white wool and later become bald. One of the three to four dark yellow central spines protrudes, the rest are laterally protruding. They have a length of up to 1 centimeter. The usually four to six radiating white to yellowish radial spines are 6 to 7 millimeters long. Sometimes there are additional thorns and thorns.

The yellow flowers reach a diameter of 3 to 3.5 centimeters and lengths of up to 3 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with red scales, white wool and white bristles. The scar is creamy white. The red, spherical fruits have a diameter of 6 to 7 millimeters. The fruits contain about 1 millimeter large, cap-shaped seeds .

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Parodia rechensis is widespread in Brazil in the north of the state of Rio Grande do Sul .

The first description as Notocactus rechensis by Albert Frederik Hendrik Buining was published in 1968. Fred H. Brandt placed the species in the genus Parodia in 1982 . Nomenclatory synonyms are Brasiliparodia rechensis (Buining) F. Ritter (1979) and Brasilicactus rechensis (Buining) Doweld (1999, incorrect name ICBN -Article 11.4?).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Critically Endangered (CR) ", d. H. listed as critically endangered.
