description

Parodia tuberculata grows individually. The gray-green, spherical shoots reach heights of growth of up to 10 centimeters and a diameter of 14 centimeters. The depressed top of the shoot is woolen in white. The roughly 13 to 20 spirally arranged ribs are divided into large, round cusps. The four gray central spines have lengths of 1.3 to 1.8 centimeters. One of them is pointing downwards and is slightly hooked. The ten to eleven radial spines, also gray, are needle-like and spread out. They lie on the shoot surface and are 0.7 to 1 centimeter long.

The short, bell-shaped, red-orange to blood-red flowers reach lengths of 1.8 to 2.5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with thick white hair and scales. The top scales have short bristles. The scars are yellowish. The purple-colored, spherical fruits are bare and up to 6 millimeters long. They contain cloudy black seeds 0.8 millimeters in diameter, which are finely tuberous.
