Syreeta , Philip Bailey and Luther Vandross , among others , were involved in the background vocals . Vandross' part can always be heard in the chorus. In an interview, Wonder revealed that the song is an homage to the Supremes classics My World Is Empty Without You and You Can't Hurry Love .
