Parun ( Pashtun پارون) is the administrative center of the Afghan province of Nuristan and the district of the same name , which was separated from the Wama district in 2004.
location
It is located about 180 km northeast of Kabul , 60 km from the border with Pakistan . The main route to Parun is the road to Asadabad . There is no developed connection to the east and west of Nuristan.
Infrastructure
Parun is the structural and functional center of Nuristan's administration and consists primarily of administrative institutions. The police headquarters, the governor's office, and various other public facilities are located there. The development of these structures is a high priority for the provincial government. Only about 50 people live in Parun at all times.
history
On May 10, 2011, around 400 insurgents attacked the police barracks in Parun. 23 of them are said to have been killed. General Shams-ul Rahman Zahid, the police commander of Nuristan Province, confirmed the attack on the base and various checkpoints and said that NATO and Afghan forces had been called to help. The Taliban took responsibility for the attack.
