The Pascagoula River is an approximately 130 km long river in the southeast of the US state Mississippi .
The river has a catchment area of about 23,000 square kilometers and flows into the Gulf of Mexico . The Pascagoula is one of the few rivers that flows through the United States and flows into the Gulf of Mexico. Due to the subtropical humid climate, it is home to a very specific fauna and flora. Among other things, it is home to the rare yellow-spotted mute turtle , which is considered threatened. Some efforts have therefore been made in recent years to preserve the river with its specific biodiversity.

The river rises in the northwestern part of George County from the confluence of the Leaf River and Chickasawhay River and flows from there mainly through marshland. In its estuary, the river forms a series of side arms. The town of Pascagoula is located at the mouth of the river .
