Burkhard Dreher

Burkhard Dreher (born December 3, 1944 in Prussian Holland , East Prussia ) is a German economist , administrative officer , manager and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After high school studied Dreher 1964-1969 economics at the Free University of Berlin , graduated as Dr. rer. pole. and worked from 1969 to 1978 as a scientist at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin . He then entered the administrative service and moved to the Senate Chancellery of the Governing Mayor of Berlin , where he was initially responsible for coordination between the departments as head of department and then until 1985 as deputy head of department. Dreher worked from 1985 to 1992 as the department head for economic development in Dortmund and participated in the establishment of the technology park there . In 1991/92 he also acted as managing director of the Brandenburg Economic Development Agency. In 1992/93 he was city director in Dortmund and 1993/94 senior city director in Bochum .

After leaving politics, Dreher switched to the private sector, first became a member of the board in October 1999 and has been deputy chairman of the board of VEW AG in Dortmund since January 2000 . He also took on numerous supervisory board mandates in various companies. Until December 2000 he also worked as managing director of Edelhoff AG in Iserlohn .

Burkhard Dreher is married and has one son.

politics

Dreher was an alderman for the city of Dortmund in the 1980s. On October 11, 1994, he was appointed Minister for Economics, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology to the government of the State of Brandenburg led by Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe . After the formation of a grand coalition , he resigned from the government on October 13, 1999 and was replaced as Minister of Economics by Wolfgang Fürniß .
