Minister in Brandenburg

From 2010 to 2014 Christoffers was Minister for Economic Affairs and European Affairs in Brandenburg, succeeding Ulrich Junghanns , CDU . Like him, he is a member of the Presidium of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation .

Because of his economic policy, which, in accordance with the coalition agreement with the SPD, is also geared towards the continuation of open-cast lignite mining in Lusatia , Christoffers was heavily criticized within the party. In a newspaper interview at the end of 2010, Wolfgang Nešković , who was then left-wing member of the Bundestag from the Brandenburg constituency of Cottbus / Spree-Neiße, described Christoffers as a wrong choice and accused him of making politics to the right of the SPD. The majority of the Brandenburg state association followed Christoffers on the path of gradually phasing out lignite by 2040, as the party had stipulated in its election manifestos.

Ralf Christoffers is a member of the board of directors of Sparkasse Barnim and the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB).
