Sofia Leonidakis (also written Sophia ) (born April 27, 1984 in Überlingen ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She has been a member of the Bremen Parliament since 2015 and, together with Nelson Janßen, chairwoman of the Left Party in the Bremen Parliament since August 2019 .

biography

Family. education and profession

Leonidakis attended school in Kassel until 2002 and graduated in design. In 2002 she went abroad to India, where she assisted in social work with so-called temple prostitutes . From 2003 to 2011 she studied Political Management (BA) and European and World Politics (MA) in Bremen and Istanbul . Until 2015 she was a research assistant for the parliamentary group Die Linke . In 2013/2014 she attended a guest semester at the University of the Arts in Bremen .

She is married, has one child and lives in Bremen - Eastern suburb .

politics

Leonidakis has been a member of the Left since 2010, actively involved in its LAG Europe and LAG Migration, and in 2011/12 on the district board of Linke Bremen Mitte-Ost. She has been a member of the Bremen Citizenship since the Bremen state election in 2015 . She is currently the spokesperson for the left-wing parliamentary group for refugees, social issues and children.

She works in the State Youth Welfare Committee and in the KiTa Works Committee. The MP is also a member of the Deputation for Social Affairs, Youth and Integration.

Further memberships

Leonidakis is a member of the education and science union (GEW), attac , the Bremen refugee council and the left-wing youth solid . She is also a volunteer refugee advisor and anti-racism activist.
