Jörg Schindler (born January 15, 1972 in Borna ) is a German politician of the Die Linke party . He has been the party's federal manager since June 2018 .

Life

After high school and basic military service ( NVA and Bundeswehr ) he studied law at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg from 1991 to 1996 and graduated in 1996 with the first state examination in law. From 1996 to 1997 he studied political science at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg and from 1997 to 1999 social sciences at the University of Duisburg . Also from 1997 to 1999 he completed a legal clerkship at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, Duisburg Regional Court , which he completed in 1999 with the second state examination.

Since 1999 he has worked as a lawyer in the regional law firm "Schindler Elmenthaler Rechtsanwälte" in Lutherstadt Wittenberg , and since 2007 also in Berlin and Dessau-Roßlau ( specialist lawyer for labor law ).

During his studies, Schindler was involved in the Socialist University Association (SHB) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and in the student council of the law faculty. At the University of Duisburg he was a member of the "Left List" and speaker for university policy in the General Student Committee (AStA).

Schindler was a member of the youth association Young Democrats / Young Left . From 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the federal executive committee.

In 2005 Schindler became a member of the PDS . From 2007 to 2018 he was chairman of the Wittenberg branch of the Die Linke party and a member of the district council of the Wittenberg district (chairman of the Die Linke parliamentary group). 2009-2014 he was a member of the Lutherstadt Wittenberg city ​​council .

Schindler was Deputy State Chairman of the Left in Saxony-Anhalt until 2018 . Within the party, he is a member of the Socialist Left and was a member of the Federal Council of Spokespersons for the Left until the election as federal executive director. On June 9, 2018, he was elected Federal Managing Director at the Left Party Congress in Leipzig .
