Life

In 1770, at the age of eighteen, Fiorella joined the royal army in France as a cadet . He was soon able to distinguish himself there and at the beginning of the revolution he was already a captain .

He fought under the command of General André Masséna in the battle of Saorgio (April 24/28, 1794) and was wounded there. After further promotions, he took part in Napoleon's Italian campaign (1796/97) and led his own command under Marshal Jean Sérurier . He fought in the Battle of Loano (23/24 November 1795), the Battle of Mondovi (20/22 April 1796) and the Battle of Castiglione (5 August 1796).

Fiorella took part in the siege of Mantua (1796/97) and won the battle of Calliano (6/7 November 1796), the battle of Arcole (15/17 November 1796) and the battle of Rivoli ( 14/15 January 1797) distinguished by bravery. He was deployed in the siege of Venice and Turin (→ Citadel of Turin ), as well as in the suppression of the Tyrolean uprising .

After Napoleon's abdication on April 6, 1814, Fiorella gave up almost all of his military offices. When Napoleon left the island of Elba and his “ rule of the hundred days ” began, it no longer joined the emperor. As a division commander, he retired in 1817 and settled near his hometown. There he died at the age of 66 on March 3, 1818 and was also buried there.
