Pascal Briand (born July 9, 1976 ) is a French inline speed skater , speed skater and ice marathon runner .

The short and medium distance specialist won his first European Championship title in inline speed skating in 1995 in the team pursuit with Arnaud Gicquel and Alain Nègre . 1998 in the French Coulaines over 500 meters then also the first individual success. In 1997 Pascal Briand won the skate marathon, which was held for the first time as part of the Berlin Marathon, in 1:07:52.

He won his first world championship gold in 1999 in Santiago de Chile, also over 500 meters. His most successful championship was the 2001 World Cup in Valence d'Agen, where he won three golds, one silver and one bronze.

In the 2000 World Inline Cup season , he finished third in Zurich and won the World Cup final in Rennes . In the overall standings, he finished 5th. In 2003 Briand secured five wins, a second and a third place, the overall victory and with his team Saab - Salomon also the title ahead of Rollerblade and Fila . He was able to repeat the overall team victory in 2007 with Powerslide-PHUZION .

In January 2005 he made his first appearance in the Speed Skating World Cup . It is not yet possible to identify a specific route because it runs consistently across all routes. The process of specialization is not yet over with him.

In 2004/05 he started in the Dutch ice marathon league. His performances in the B division, including second place in Haarlem , enabled him to start in the A group from next season. For the speed skating World Cup final 2005/06 a demonstration race over 40 laps was held, which Briand won. With the exception of a 3rd place in Groningen and the victory in Assen , the great success in the marathon series did not materialize.
