Paschal de l'Estocart

Paschal de l'Estocart (* 1539 in Noyon , † after 1584 ) was a reformed church composer of the French Renaissance .

Life

Not much is known about his life. Between 1559 and 1565 he stayed in Lyon , where he married in 1565. In his youth he must have visited Italy and was later a protégé of the Huguenot counts von der Marck . In 1582 he worked for the Lorraine Duke Charles III. and 1584 for the Abbot of Valmont ; in the same year he won the silver harp in the music competition "Puy" of Évreux for his five-part motet Ecce quam bonum et quam jucundum .
