Paste-up is a term from street art culture . This is generally understood to mean a poster mounted with paste or glue . Since 2005, this type of art can constitute a criminal offense of property damage according to Section 303 (2) of the Criminal Code. According to this, anyone who unauthorized changes the appearance of a foreign thing, not only insignificantly and not only temporarily, is punished. Substance damage to the thing to be posted is therefore no longer necessary. In addition, many municipal and city police regulations often have their own ban on billposting.

In Switzerland, " wild billboarding " is generally prohibited by law and is a criminal offense.

Manufacturing and technology

Larger paste-ups are usually made by screen printing or stencils , while smaller ones are printed out or drawn directly by hand. Special attention is paid to the paper, it should be thicker and more stable than conventional paper, as it can tear due to the moisture in the glue or paste when it is being drawn on. But there are also artists who consciously work with newsprint; these works are then not durable for long due to the weather.
