Patrice Oliva (born February 23, 1974 in Marseille ) is a French composer .

Life

Patrice Oliva was born in 1974 in Marseille / France. He studied composition at the Conservatoire National de Région de Marseille - Pierre Barbizet and received the diploma with the highest honors, the Premier Prix.

Patrice Oliva's first compositions were premiered in the concert hall of the Conservatoire National , and later also in concert halls in the region. In 2000 he became a semi-finalist in the contemporary composition competition Queen Elizabeth II of Belgium . In 2003 he completed a postgraduate course in composition at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich (today: University of Music and Theater Munich). He made the acquaintance of Jürgen Bruns , the founder of the Kammersymphonie Berlin . World premieres, such as the song without words for orchestra, followed.

After several chamber music compositions, Patrice Oliva wrote his Mass in D minor for choir and orchestra in 2004 , which was premiered in the Church of St. Benno in Munich. Since then he has worked with various Munich orchestras and ensembles. As part of this collaboration, there were several premieres and re-performances such as the Overture in G minor, Fantasy for String Orchestra, Suite for String Orchestra and the Overture The Battle of the Archangel Michael in various concert halls in the city, such as the concert hall of the Munich University of Music and Theater , the Gasteig , the Munich Residence or the Künstlerhaus on Lenbachplatz . In 2010 the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra performed "art-unfaltung" under the direction of Stephan König Patrice Olivas Phantasie for string orchestra in concert halls in and around Leipzig.

In addition to his symphonic work, Patrice Oliva also writes music for television films and documentary series under various pseudonyms. He works with artists such as Nello Santi , Tibère Raffalli , Stephan König , Daniel Inbal , Adrian Xhema . He gives workshops and is active at festivals all over Europe.

Patrice Oliva has been a lecturer at the University of Osnabrück since the winter semester of 2016 .

His works are published by Weber Edition , whose in-house composer he has been since 2014.
