Patrick Robin Archibald Boyle, 10th Earl of Glasgow (born July 30, 1939 ) is a British politician of the Liberal Democrats , one of the 92 hereditary members of the House of Lords and is Chief of Clan Boyle and Deputy Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran .

He is the only son of Rear Admiral David Boyle, 9th Earl of Glasgow and Dorothe Lyle. He attended Eton College in Berkshire and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. He served in the Royal Naval Reserve and left in 1960 with the rank of sub-lieutenant .

After completing his studies, he worked in film, initially as an assistant director at Woodfall Film Productions from 1961 to 1964, as a freelance assistant director from 1965 to 1968, and from 1968 to 1970 as producer and director of television documentaries for Yorkshire Television . Between 1971 and 1981 he worked as a freelance producer and director for various broadcasters (including BBC , ATV , ITV ). In 1977 he had parts of the family estate converted into the Kelburn Country Center amusement park , which he still manages today as a manager. From 1981 to 1985 he was on the board of directors of the Largs Viking Festival , a Viking medieval market in the town of Largs, which is close to the family seat . From 1999 to 2000 and again from 2003 to 2004 he was chairman of the Ayrshire and Arran Tourist Board.

He inherited his paternal titles ( Earl of Glasgow , Lord Boyle of Stewartoun, Cumbraes, Fenwick, Largs and Dalry , Viscount of Kelburn , Baron Fairlie ) in 1984. In 2005 he succeeded Conrad Russell, 5th Earl Russell in the House of Lords elected. He represents the Liberal Democrats there and is their spokesman for transport issues.

Patrick Boyle married Isabel James on November 30, 1974, daughter of George Douglas James, with whom they have two children.
