Patti Scialfa (* 29 July 1953 as Vivienne Patricia Scialfa in Long Branch , New Jersey ) is an American singer. Her musical style is attributed to American roots rock .

biography

Patti Scialfa is known as the wife of Bruce Springsteen and as the backing singer for the E Street Band , in which she also played synthesizers and acoustic guitar. After Springsteen's marriage to the model Julianne Phillips was divorced, she married the "Boss" in 1991. They live together in Colts Neck , New Jersey and have three children, including show jumper Jessica Springsteen .

Scialfa began her career as a background and studio singer for various rock acts, including David Johansen , the Rolling Stones and Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes . Before joining E Street Band in 1984, Scialfa had signed a recording deal with Columbia Records .

Due to her work with the E Street Band and her wedding to Springsteen, her debut album Rumble doll was released in 1993. All the songs on it were written by herself. The album, which was produced by Mike Campbell , a member of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers , received some praise from critics, but received little attention. Allegedly only 55,000 copies were sold.

In 2004 the successor 23rd Street Lullaby appeared . The second album was produced by Steve Jordan , who had already worked with Keith Richards . In addition to Springsteen himself, Nils Lofgren on guitar and Soozie Tyrell (vocals, violin) also played on the album, both members of the E Street Band. The album received mostly good reviews, for example in the German Rolling Stone .

In 2007 the third Scialfa album Play It as It Lays was released , again produced by Steve Jordan.
