Paul "Pauke" Meijers (born June 2, 1934 , † October 14, 2013 ) was a Dutch football player .

Athletic career

Meijers began his career at NEC Nijmegen , where the offensive player became a national player. In September 1953 he made his debut in the Dutch national team , the 90 minutes of use in the 4-0 away win over Norway remained his only use in the Elftal .

In 1954, Meijers moved to the newly founded BV De Graafschap with the introduction of professional football in the Netherlands . When the Eredivisie was introduced as the nationwide uniform first division two years later, he missed the qualification with the club and joined the team in the now second-rate Eerste Divisie . In 1957 he returned to top-class football and joined Feyenoord Rotterdam , who paid 55,000 guilders for him. By May 1961 he ran for the club, for which he scored 22 goals in 79 competitive games, and said goodbye to league rivals NAC Breda as the reigning champion . There he played one season before returning to NEC Nijmegen in the third-rate Tweede Divisie . In 1964 he prevailed with the club as a season winner in the subsequent elimination game against Alkmaar '54 and rose to the second division. In 1967 he was promoted to the Eredivisie, but Meijers let his career end with AGOVV Apeldoorn .

In addition to his appointment to the senior national team, Meijers was also a selection player in the Dutch military selection.
