The Paul Hindemith Society in Berlin is an association for the promotion of music and drama at the Berlin University of the Arts .

history

Originally this association was founded in 1966 as the "Society of Friends of the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Berlin eV " . Founding members were unforgettable personalities such as B. Maria Ivogün , Boris Blacher , Hans Chemin-Petit , Gottfried von Eine , Hans Scharoun , Hans Heinz Stuckenschmidt and Herbert von Karajan . The chairmen of the society included Elisabeth Grümmer , Joachim Tiburtius and Eberhard Finke. In 2001 the association was renamed "Paul Hindemith Society in Berlin eV" to commemorate and honor Paul Hindemith posthumously .

tasks and goals

In accordance with its statutes, the Society, as a registered association, has taken on the task of promoting popular education and studies in these areas at the Berlin University of the Arts through performances of music or the performing arts that are accessible to everyone , and also to support the study of the works of Paul Hindemith .

The contributions of the members and the donations to the association are used to financially support musically and / or dramatically talented, but economically very poorly placed students through scholarships . The association also enables the scholarship holders to present themselves to a wider audience at regular scholarship concerts.
