Paul Apel (writer)

Paul Apel (born on August 2, 1872 in Berlin ; died on October 9, 1946 there ) was a German dramatist and author of philosophical and life-science writings.

Life

Apel was the son of Max Apel, a teacher at the Kadettenhaus in Berlin. After attending the Falk Realgymnasium, he studied philosophy, mathematics and physics at the Berlin University and then worked as an actor and freelance writer, but after an illness in 1907 had to undergo treatment for several years in Davos and Wolfgang in Graubünden, Switzerland . With his neo-romantic dream play Hans Sonnenstossers Höllenfahrt he achieved a stage success in 1911, for which he was awarded the Bauernfeld Prize . He died in 1946 when he threw himself out of a window on the fourth floor of the denazification commission .

He was a member of the Reich Association of German Writers .
