Paul Bilfinger

Paul Bilfinger (* 15. May 1858 in Bern , † 4. January 1928 in Mannheim ) was a German bridge construction - engineering .

Life

His father, Bernhard Bilfinger (1829–1897), as a bridge engineer for the Pforzheim-based company Gebrüder Benckiser , built eight bridges over the Rhine , among other things .

Paul Bilfinger studied in Stuttgart. From around 1882 he took over the construction management of bridges and difficult compressed air foundations at home and abroad and in 1887, after passing the 2nd state examination, was appointed government builder ( assessor in the public building administration).

In the same year, however, he left the civil service and joined the construction company Bernatz & Grün from August Bernatz and August Grün . After Bernatz left, Bilfinger became a partner in Grün in 1892, and the company was now called Grün & Bilfinger . In 1906 it was converted into a stock corporation, from which the construction group Bilfinger Berger emerged in 1975 .

In 1888 Bilfinger married Emilie Weingärtner in Wertheim , with whom he had four children.
